Annual NCC ‘A’ Certificate Exam Draws 3,500 Cadets
The National Cadet Corps (NCC) Group Headquarters, Visakhapatnam, conducted the annual ‘A’ Certificate Examination on Sunday, marking a key training milestone for young cadets across North Coastal Andhra.
Around 3,500 cadets from the Junior Division (JD) and Junior Wing (JW) took part in the examination. The participants represented educational institutions from Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, and Anakapalli districts.
The ‘A’ Certificate examination marks the completion of two years of structured NCC training. According to an official, the program aims to shape students into disciplined and socially responsible citizens while preparing them for potential careers in the Armed Forces and other uniformed services release.
The evaluation was conducted in both theory and practical formats to assess overall development. Cadets were tested in drill and basic weapon training, focusing on precision and discipline. Map-reading skills were also assessed to gauge their ability to interpret terrain and navigate effectively.
General knowledge formed another component, covering national history, current affairs, and NCC values. Life skills, including leadership traits and awareness of community service, were also part of the assessment.
Officials said the large-scale conduct of the examination reflects the strong presence of the NCC in the region. By bringing together thousands of cadets from three districts, the event underlined the organisation’s role in promoting national integration and a spirit of service.
