AP allocates 480 acres for Google-linked data centre in Vizag
The Andhra Pradesh government has approved the transfer of 480 acres of land in Visakhapatnam and Anakapalli districts to Adani Infra (India) Pvt Ltd. This approval supports the development of a 1 GW AI data center project.
Raiden Infotech India Pvt Ltd, an entity affiliated with Google, is leading the investment. Adani Infra is appointed as the main notified partner, with a consortium that includes AdaniConneX, Bharti Airtel, Nxtra Data, and Nxtra Vizag also officially acknowledged. The cabinet approved this decision on November 28, followed by a formal Government Order on December 2.
The project is structured in phases and represents a total estimated investment exceeding Rs 87,500 crore. In return, the state is expected to disburse approximately Rs 22,000 crore in incentives. A key condition is that the facility must meet the stringent technical standards that underpin Google’s core services.
The completed 1 GW centre’s operational electricity consumption is anticipated to be substantial, equating to roughly half of Mumbai’s annual requirement. Furthermore, the overall investment commitment from Google to Andhra Pradesh has been updated to $15 billion.
