AP Chambers welcomes tariff stability, seeks higher solar cap
The Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry Federation (AP Chambers) has welcomed the tariff order issued by the Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission for 2026–27, describing it as balanced and industry-friendly.
In a press release, the federation said the decision to keep tariffs unchanged across all categories would provide relief to consumers while ensuring industry stability. It also noted the absence of true-up charges, which often impose additional financial burden, and the reduction in tariffs for commercial consumers.
AP Chambers appreciated the continued support extended to agriculture and weaker sections, and the State government’s commitment to bridge the revenue gap of power distribution companies.
Observing that tariff stability would enhance investor confidence and improve ease of doing business, the federation said the rationalisation of tariff categories and the focus on renewable energy were positive steps. It particularly welcomed the creation of a separate category for solar manufacturing and the continuation of the green power segment.
However, AP Chambers urged the State government and APERC to increase the net metering cap from 500 kW to at least 1,000 kW. Such a move, it said, would align Andhra Pradesh with progressive States, accelerate rooftop solar adoption, and reduce power costs for micro, small, and medium enterprises.
The federation hopes to continue working with the government and the regulator to support a sustainable, growth-oriented power sector.
