AP Minister Assures Safety of Telugu Citizens in Gulf

Andhra Pradesh Minister for NRI Empowerment and Relations, Kondapalli Srinivas, has assured that the State government is prioritising the safety and welfare of Telugu citizens in the Gulf amid the Israel–Iran conflict.

Speaking at a Zoom conference organised by the Andhra Pradesh Non-Resident Telugu Society (APNRTS) with coordinators from Gulf countries on Tuesday, Mr. Srinivas reviewed the situation and issued instructions to support affected expatriates. He said the State government, in coordination with the Centre, is taking steps to protect workers, students, employees, and tourists affected by the crisis.

Coordinators from Dubai, Sharjah, Doha, and Jeddah said that while media reports caused concern, the situation on the ground was not as difficult. Authorities in the region have implemented safety measures, including sirens and alerts. Some issues were reported in Bahrain, but Dubai and Kuwait remain stable. Officials said airports are operational and there is no shortage of food, water, or accommodation.

The Minister advised Telugu citizens in the affected areas to register with the APNRT and the Indian Embassies. He noted that some flights are being cancelled due to airspace restrictions and asked people to wait until conditions return to normal.

Mr. Srinivas said that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is monitoring the situation through the APNRT and RTGS systems and has directed officials to provide timely assistance.

APNRT coordinators recalled their support during the COVID-19 pandemic and expressed readiness to help in the current situation. APNRT president Ravi Kumar Vemuru and other officials joined the meeting.
