AP to set up AI University in Amaravati with NVIDIA support

The Andhra Pradesh government will establish a dedicated Artificial Intelligence university in Amaravati in partnership with technology major NVIDIA, IT and Electronics Department Secretary Katamaneni Bhaskhar said on Wednesday.

Speaking at the TechBharat AI for Public Good summit at GITAM Deemed to be University, where he attended as chief guest and distributed fellowships to students, Mr Bhaskhar said the university is slated to begin operations on February 19. The institution is being planned as a specialised centre for advanced learning, research, and innovation in artificial intelligence and emerging technologies.

Officials said the university will offer industry-focused courses, promote applied research, and work closely with global technology companies. The aim is to create a skilled talent pool in AI, machine learning, data science, and robotics, while also supporting start-ups and innovation in the capital region.

Mr Bhaskhar said the initiative is part of the state’s strategy to position Andhra Pradesh as a hub for deep-tech education and digital innovation. The partnership with NVIDIA is expected to provide students and researchers access to advanced computing platforms and global expertise.

He also highlighted the government’s plan to introduce an AI agent for every public servant. The project, being developed by the Real Time Governance Society under the name “Agent Space”, is designed as an AI-powered digital workspace for government employees.

According to officials, the platform will assist in data analysis, document processing, decision support, and citizen service management to improve efficiency and service delivery across departments. The system will be integrated with existing government databases in a secure digital environment.

Mr Bhaskhar said the focus on a dedicated AI university along with AI-driven governance tools reflects the state’s push to use technology for economic growth and improved public services.
