APEPDCL marks 79th Independence Day, highlights achievements in power sector

Andhra Pradesh Eastern Power Distribution Company Limited (APEPDCL) celebrated the 79th Independence Day at its corporate office in Visakhapatnam, with Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) Prithvi Tej Immadi hoisting the national flag.

Addressing the gathering, Immadi highlighted the company’s major achievements. He said APEPDCL has been providing uninterrupted power supply to 73 lakh consumers while successfully reducing transmission losses to below 5.8 per cent.

As part of its social responsibility, the company extended free power supply to 23,024 Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG) homes, 1,979 homes under the DA-JGUA scheme, and 13,000 non-PVTG households.

On renewable energy initiatives, the CMD said that 63.522 MW of solar rooftop capacity had been installed across 19,385 homes under the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Yojana. He added that tenders were finalised for 220 MW of solar systems under the PM-Kusum scheme for agricultural pump sets.

Immadi further noted that 4,123 farmers had registered for direct connections through the 1912 call centre. A total of 1,007 substations were constructed, including 44 SCADA-enabled units, while progress was being made on the RDSS scheme and the underground cabling project in Visakhapatnam.

He also shared that 92 per cent of monthly bills are now being paid through the Eastern Power Mobile App. In addition, 67,858 consumers benefitted from a 50 per cent subsidy on load balancing charges, and a 96 per cent satisfaction rate was achieved in resolving consumer grievances.

Highlighting workforce development, the CMD said 7,441 individuals were trained last year and a new training centre was established at Sagar Nagar with a ₹5-crore grant from the Bureau of Energy Efficiency.

The programme concluded with the felicitation of 97 employees who received certificates for their outstanding contributions. Directors and senior officials of APEPDCL attended the celebrations.
