APEPDCL pushes WhatsApp, 1912 for quick complaint redressal
The Andhra Pradesh Eastern Power Distribution Company Limited (APEPDCL) has urged consumers to make use of its digital and telephonic channels to report electricity-related issues. Consumers can lodge complaints via WhatsApp at 9493681912 or by calling the toll-free helpline 1912.
Speaking during the weekly ‘Dial Your CMD’ programme conducted on Mondays, CMD I. Prudhvitej said the initiative is designed to offer quicker solutions to problems related to billing, power interruptions and faulty equipment, while reducing the need for consumers to visit section offices.
The CMD received 45 complaints during Monday’s interaction, marking the second session in the series. He noted that the programme has started generating steady public response and serves as a direct communication bridge between the utility and consumers.
“We are committed to resolving grievances raised through this weekly call-in session as quickly as possible. Of the 47 complaints received during the previous programme, 38 have already been addressed. The remaining cases are under process,” he said.
Officials said the complaints received on Monday reflected recurring concerns from both urban households and rural consumers. Key issues raised included delays in sanctioning new agricultural power connections, requests for shifting unsafe or dangerously positioned electric poles, sagging overhead wires, delays in replacing burnt transformers, discrepancies in monthly electricity bills, pending name transfer requests, and voltage fluctuations causing damage to domestic appliances.
The CMD instructed field officers to prioritise safety-related complaints, particularly those involving damaged poles and low-hanging wires. He also emphasised the need for timely transformer replacements and faster disposal of billing disputes.
APEPDCL reiterated that consumers need not approach offices physically for routine grievances, and encouraged them to use WhatsApp and the 1912 helpline for faster complaint registration and tracking.
