APSRTC Launches 24-Hour Travel Ticket in Visakhapatnam
The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) has introduced a new ‘Travel as You Like’ ticket, allowing unlimited travel on all city buses for 24 hours at a cost of Rs. 100. The Madhurawada depot manager said the scheme aims to make commuting more convenient and affordable for frequent passengers.
Earlier, the ticket was valid only until midnight, limiting its use for late-night travelers. Under the revised scheme, a ticket purchased at any time remains valid for 24 hours. For example, a ticket bought at 2 pm will be valid until 2 pm the following day. The facility covers City, Metro Express, and City Ordinary buses, including routes such as Kottavalasa, Thagarapuvalasa, and Lankelapalem. Passengers must provide name, mobile number, and age when purchasing the ticket.
APSRTC has also expanded its double-decker bus services. Two buses now operate under the ‘Half On Half Off’ scheme between RK Beach and Thotlakonda, stopping at 11 locations, including TU 142, Kurusura Museum, Kailasagiri, Visakha Museum, ISKCON Temple, Rushikonda Venkateswara Swamy Temple, and Tenneti Park. Fares were reduced from Rs. 500 to Rs. 250 for adults and Rs. 100 for children, following instructions from Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
Officials said the new services will benefit both residents and tourists, providing a flexible, cost-effective travel option and improving connectivity across the city.
