Buddha Circuit Expedition Connects Himalayas to Ocean, Reaches Vizag
The Tri-Services Lord Buddha Circuit Motorcycle Expedition, a historic journey connecting the Himalayas to the Indian Ocean with the message of Lord Buddha, arrived in Visakhapatnam on Wednesday.
The expedition is led by Rahul Patil, accompanied by six serving officers from the Army, Navy and Air Force. It aims to highlight military camaraderie, spiritual diplomacy and cultural exchange.
The Visakhapatnam leg of the journey is supported by Andhra Pradesh Tourism, reflecting the State’s efforts to promote heritage, peace and adventure.
The initiative has the support of several institutional and international partners. Nalanda University is contributing its expertise in civilisational knowledge and Buddhist heritage, while BIMSTEC is extending cooperation to strengthen regional ties across South and Southeast Asia. The Land Ports Authority of India (LPAI) is also associated with the expedition, facilitating cross-border connectivity and people-to-people exchanges.
“This expedition is more than a ride—it is a bridge of friendship between nations, a journey of remembrance of our shared Buddhist heritage, and a tribute to the armed forces who carry the spirit of peace with strength,” Shri Patil said.
From Visakhapatnam, the riders will continue their journey through Andhra Pradesh, carrying forward the message of “Peace, Unity and Brotherhood.”
