CEO calls for transparent voter list mapping
State Chief Electoral Officer Vivek Yadav has directed Visakhapatnam district officials to strictly follow Election Commission guidelines while executing the voter list mapping exercise, stressing the need to ensure accuracy and protect the integrity of electoral rolls.
Mr. Yadav chaired a review meeting on Saturday at the Collectorate with District Collector M. N. Harendhira Prasad, Joint Collector K. Mayur Ashok, EROs, and AROs. He reminded officials to remain accountable in the backdrop of past Special Intensive Revision (SIR) findings and to complete the task in an organised manner without yielding to pressure.
The CEO instructed teams to verify voter names and parental details by cross-checking entries from the 2002 rolls with the 2025 list. Updated records, he said, must be correctly entered and mapped to the appropriate polling stations and constituencies. He also underlined the need for transparency in document verification and careful scrutiny of self-declarations.
Briefing the CEO, Collector Harendhira Prasad reported that 2,81,415 voter records had been mapped so far out of a total 20,20,726 across seven constituencies. He noted that details of heirs and successors are also being linked.
EROs highlighted challenges in collecting field-level data, citing widespread urbanisation and a large migrant population as major hurdles.
EROs Sangeet Madhur, Dayanidhi, Sudhasagar, Madhusudhan, Sunitha, Seshasailaja, Gnanaveni, and several AEROs attended the review meeting.
