Chakra Snanam Marks End of Brahmotsavam
The nine-day annual Brahmotsavam at the Sri Kalyana Venkateswara temple in Srinivasa Mangapuram concluded on Monday. The sacred ‘Chakra Snanam’ ritual in the temple tank marked the finale.
The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) set up a separate enclosure in the tank for VIPs. Local legislator Pulivarthi Nani, his wife, and TDP women’s wing leader Pulivarthi Sudha Reddy, and TTD Special Grade Deputy Executive Officer V. Varalakshmi participated in the holy dip.
Earlier, priests conducted the ‘Pallaki Utsavam’ between 6.30 am and 7.30 am. The processional deities of Kalyana Venkateswara, along with Sridevi and Bhudevi, were taken out in a ceremonial procession. The idol of Sudarsana Chakra (Chakrathalwar) accompanied them.
In the evening, priests performed the ‘Dhwajavarohanam’ ritual. Officiating priest (Kankanabhattar) Balaji Rangacharyulu brought down the holy flag. The ritual signalled the formal conclusion of the Brahmotsavam.
TTD officials said the temple kitchen served nearly 20,000 devotees. Devotees received close to 10 varieties of prasadam during the festival.
On key days such as Garuda Seva, Rathotsavam, and Chakra Snanam, the Annaprasadam counter fed between 25,000 and 30,000 devotees.
Around 100 Srivari Sevaks rendered voluntary service. The TTD medical wing assisted nearly 1,000 devotees. The S.V. Ayurvedic Hospital distributed free medicines to about 1,500 devotees, according to a TTD release.
