City Police Tighten Security After Delhi Blast
Visakhapatnam city police have placed the city on high alert following a blast in New Delhi on Monday evening. Authorities have launched extensive security checks at key locations, and measures across the city have been tightened to ensure public safety. This precautionary step comes ahead of major events scheduled in the coming days.
Ahead of the CII Partnership Summit on November 14-15, security at the AU Engineering College Grounds, the main venue, has been significantly reinforced. Dog squads, bomb disposal units, and specialized teams are carrying out thorough inspections. Entry points have been strengthened, while patrols and surveillance units are deployed across the premises.
Police teams from all jurisdictions are conducting checks at major junctions, bus and railway stations, and other crowded areas. Metal detectors and screening units are being used to inspect passengers, luggage, and suspicious items. Vehicle inspections at city entry and exit points have been intensified, with occupants of suspicious vehicles being verified.
Hotels, lodges, guest houses, cargo centers, courier offices, and warehouses are also under close watch. Police are verifying credentials, examining records, and monitoring activities to prevent misuse or illegal operations. Citizens have been urged to cooperate during these inspections.
Commissioner of Police Shankarbharathi Bagchi appealed to the public to remain calm and cooperate with ongoing security measures. He requested that any suspicious persons, objects, or activities be reported immediately to Dial 112 or the nearest police station.
Authorities said these measures will remain in place until after the summit concludes. Intelligence agencies are working closely with city police to track potential threats. Drawing on experience from large-scale events, authorities have adopted a layered security strategy, combining preventive checks with rapid-response capabilities to safeguard participants and the public.
