CM to launch Vizag’s electric hop-on hop-off bus service on August 29

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will visit Visakhapatnam on August 29 to launch the city’s new electric hop-on hop-off (HOHO) bus service, a double-decker initiative designed to enhance tourist experiences in the port city.

District Collector M.N. Harendhira Prasad confirmed during a review meeting on August 25 that the Chief Minister will arrive at 11 a.m. and attend the launch programme at Novotel Varun Beach.

The HOHO service will begin with two buses connecting Visakhapatnam’s major coastal attractions, including RK Beach, Kailasagiri, the museums along Beach Road, Rushikonda Beach, and Thotlakonda. Passengers can board and alight at their convenience, making sightseeing flexible and convenient. The buses will also offer specially designed merchandise for tourists.

Tourists visiting Vizag expressed enthusiasm for the new service. “It’s a great way to see all the main sights without worrying about transport,” said Arjun Sharma, a tourist from Hyderabad. Priya Menon, visiting from Kerala, added, “The double-decker buses are fun, eco-friendly, and perfect for taking photos while sightseeing.”

Local residents also welcomed the initiative. “This will make it easier for families to enjoy a day out along the coast,” said S. Ramesh from MVP Colony. Kavitha Rao noted, “It’s encouraging to see the city adopting sustainable transport options for tourism.”

Following the HOHO launch, the Chief Minister is scheduled to inaugurate several Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA) projects and join National Sports Day celebrations. He will also present prizes at the Amaravati Championship Cup at Andhra University Engineering College grounds.

With the launch of the hop-on hop-off buses, Visakhapatnam joins a select group of Indian cities offering eco-friendly sightseeing options, providing residents and visitors with a sustainable and convenient way to explore the city.
