Collector Commends FAI’s Role in Promoting Safety in Fertilizer Industry
District Collector MN Harendhira Prasad praised the Fertiliser Association of India (FAI) for its leadership in advancing national initiatives on process safety and risk management in the fertilizer sector. Speaking at the Workshop on Process Safety & Risk Management held on Thursday, he highlighted the importance of such platforms in enhancing safety practices within high-risk industries.
Mr. Prasad emphasized the need for the fertilizer industry to leverage modern technologies, such as IoT-based sensors, for real-time condition monitoring. He stressed that combining cutting-edge technology with strict safety protocols can significantly reduce operational risks.
The workshop saw participation from around 60 safety officers representing 28 fertilizer organizations from across India. Held in collaboration with Coromandel International Ltd, the event marked an important step forward in improving safety standards across the fertilizer manufacturing industry.
Key figures at the workshop included S.K. Choudhari, Director General of FAI, Manish Goswami, Chief (Technical) at FAI, and other industry leaders. Notable contributions came from Gnanasundaram M, Senior VP and Head of Manufacturing for Fertilizer Business at Coromandel International Ltd, and A.K. Chopra, Managing Director of KFL, who provided valuable insights into safety challenges and emerging risk management tools.
The workshop provided a collaborative platform for experts to discuss best practices and innovative solutions to address safety concerns in the industry. Mr. Prasad also thanked Coromandel International for its technical support, which played a key role in the success of the event.
