Collector pushes cleanliness, summer relief agenda

District Collector M. Abhishikt Kishore on Friday held a comprehensive review of civic administration with GVMC Commissioner Ketan Garg and senior officials, marking his first visit to the corporation as Special Officer after assuming charge.

The Collector assessed the functioning of various departments and examined revenue and expenditure. He stressed that the city must aim for a top rank in national cleanliness surveys. He directed officials to establish summer water kiosks with CSR support to supply drinking water, buttermilk, and ORS sachets to commuters across the city.

Mr Kishore also asked officials to complete road works ahead of the commencement of operations at Bhogapuram Airport and to resolve pending land issues in coordination with the Joint Collector.

Reviewing the public health wing, he sought details on sanitation staff strength, garbage collection and transportation, composting at the Kapuluppada dumping yard, and the functioning of waste-to-energy and biogas units.

During the engineering review, the Collector examined budget allocations and the progress of works related to roads, drains, parks, green belts, and medians. He also reviewed the status of smart street vending markets, the construction of working women’s hostels, proposed road widening, maintenance of GVMC stadiums, street lighting, drinking water supply, mechanical services, TIDCO housing, and Anna canteens. He further enquired about arrangements for summer relief measures.

Additional Commissioners D.V. Ramanamurthy, S.S. Varma, and P. Nalanayya, Chief Engineer Satyanarayana Raju, Chief City Planner A. Prabhakar Rao, Chief Medical Officer E.N.V. Naresh Kumar, and other officials were present.
