Collector seeks time-bound disposal of petitions
District Collector M.N. Harendhira Prasad on Monday directed officials to ensure time-bound and effective redressal of petitions received through the Revenue Clinic and the Public Grievance Redressal System (PGRS).
The Collector and Joint Collector K. Mayur Ashok received petitions from the public during the Revenue Clinic and the general PGRS programme held at the Visakhapatnam Collectorate.
The Collector told departments to dispose of petitions within the same week in which they are received. He warned that delays would increase the backlog. He also expressed dissatisfaction over the quality of grievance redressal in the Town Planning wing.
The Collector took serious note of cases where officials acted without proper endorsement on petitions related to Town Planning and the GVMC Housing Construction wing. He directed the PGRS nodal officer to issue memos to 10 officials, including those at the ZDC, DCP, ACP, DE and ASO levels. He asked them to submit explanation reports within 48 hours.
During the review, the Collector examined recent petitions along with those received over the past year. He assessed departmental endorsements, the pre-audit process and the level of public satisfaction.
Citizens submitted 250 petitions on Monday. The Revenue Department received 86, the GVMC received 80, the Police Department received nine, and other departments received 75. The Collectorate held the Revenue Clinic in the VC Hall and conducted the general PGRS programme in the meeting hall.
Officials, including GVMC ADC Satyaveni, Deputy Collector Sattibabu, RDOs Sudhasagar and Sangeet Madhur, and Tahsildars, also participated.
