Collector stresses quality education and nutrition for students
District Collector Dr. N. Prabhakar Reddy has emphasized the need to provide quality education and nutritious meals to students in government schools and junior colleges, while taking steps to prevent anemia.
On Friday, Dr. Reddy, accompanied by Joint Collector C. Yashwanth Kumar Reddy, visited Jiyyammavalasa and Kurupam mandals. At the A.P. Tribal Welfare Girls’ Residential School and Junior College in Kurupam, he said each student’s hemoglobin level should not fall below nine points. He highlighted the nutritional value of carrots, moong dal, and other foods, and instructed officials to prioritize these items. Follow-up hemoglobin tests for students with anemia were also ordered. Dr. Reddy directed the Kurupam CHC doctor to take immediate steps to improve students’ hemoglobin levels.
At the AP Model School and Junior College in Kurupam, the Collector served mid-day meals, inspected their quality, and stressed that nutritious meals should support quality education. He also urged officials to ensure a 100 percent pass rate among students.
Dr. Reddy later visited the Community Health Center in Chinamerangi, Jiyyammavalasa Mandal. He reviewed ambulance services, emergency kits, and hospital facilities. He interacted with patients, including snake and dog bite victims, children with fever, and pregnant women, expressing satisfaction with the medical care and food provided. He also emphasized the need for a steady supply of medicines and preventive measures against seasonal diseases.
Special Deputy Collector P. Dharmachandra Reddy, District Hospital Coordination Officer Dr. G. Nagabhushan Rao, CHC Medical Officer Dr. D. Chaitanya, Deputy Director of the Tribal Welfare Department R. Krishnaveni, Principal P. Anuradha, teachers, students, and other officials accompanied the Collector during the visits.
