“Competition exists both before and after success,” says GVMC Commissioner
“Competition exists both before and after success,” said Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) Commissioner Ketan Garg during his visit to GITAM Deemed to be University on Thursday. He interacted with students in an inspiring session aimed at motivating them to pursue their goals with focus and determination.
Mr. Garg shared his career journey, beginning as a bank officer and moving through eight key sectors before preparing for the Civil Services Examination. His persistence and strategic planning paid off, leading him to serve initially as a Sub-Collector and now as GVMC Commissioner. He emphasized that while the path may seem challenging, careful planning and consistent effort make even ambitious goals achievable.
Addressing the students, he advised setting clear priorities and maintaining disciplined learning habits. “Success is not a destination; it is a process of constant improvement,” he said, encouraging students to embrace challenges and view setbacks as opportunities to grow.
He also spoke about the role of social media, cautioning against its unproductive use. He urged students to use digital platforms to enhance knowledge, build networks, and develop skills, rather than letting them become distractions.
The session became lively when students asked questions about exam preparation, career choices, and balancing personal and professional growth. Mr. Garg shared practical tips, personal anecdotes, and motivational insights, leaving students inspired. The event concluded with a warm round of applause.
GITAM Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof. Y. Gowthamrao, Registrar Prof. D. Gunasekharan, and other faculty members attended, encouraging students to actively participate in such interactions.
