Coordination key to Viksit Bharat goals: Lanka Dinakar
Chairperson of the 20-Point Programme, Lanka Dinakar, on Friday urged departments to work in closer coordination to realise the Centre’s vision of Viksit Bharat and the State’s goal of Swarna Andhra 2047.
He addressed a review meeting on the implementation of key Central schemes at the Zilla Parishad conference hall in Visakhapatnam. District Collector M.N. Harendira Prasad, Visakhapatnam North MLA Vishnu Kumar Raju, and senior officials were present.
During the meeting, officials reviewed progress in education and health schemes. They also assessed the implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission and the PM Surya Ghar programme. Mr. Dinakar said consistent efforts were essential to develop the district into a “Viksit Visakha.” At the same time, he stressed that welfare schemes must reach beneficiaries transparently, with close coordination between officials and public representatives.
Turning to drinking water, he highlighted the importance of a safe and reliable supply. He said authorities were closely monitoring the progress of the Jal Jeevan Mission and AMRUT schemes. Similarly, while referring to the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, he noted that the government had introduced reforms to address earlier gaps.
He explained that the VBG Ramji system aimed to improve transparency in work measurement and wage payments. In addition, the government increased guaranteed workdays from 100 to 125. It also allowed a 60-day exemption during peak agricultural seasons. He said the Centre’s allocation of nearly ₹96,000 crore would help create durable assets in rural areas.
Reviewing the health sector, Mr. Dinakar sought detailed updates on schemes such as Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, maternal and child health programmes, Anemia Mukt Bharat, the Ayushman Bharat Health Account, the PM Jan Arogya Yojana, and the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. He also urged officials to step up efforts to reduce maternal mortality.
On the education front, officials briefed him on the PM Poshan mid-day meal scheme, PM Shri Schools, and the Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Vidyarthi Mitra programme. Meanwhile, Mr. Dinakar said authorities had removed fake job cards under MGNREGS to ensure that benefits reached only eligible beneficiaries.
