Cyient Foundation Launches AI Labs in Visakhapatnam Schools

Cyient Foundation has launched CyAILS (Cyient AI Lab for Schools), a five-year initiative that equips 50 government high schools in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, with AI labs to train more than 25,000 students in Classes 7 to 10 in AI, STEM, and robotics. The ₹8 crore programme is fully funded by the foundation and aims to bridge the digital divide for rural and semi-urban students through hands-on, project-based learning aligned with the National Education Policy 2020.

Andhra Pradesh Minister for Human Resources Development, IT, Electronics, and Communication Nara Lokesh inaugurated the labs on August 29, 2025, at Chandrampalem ZP High School. Each lab includes computers, IoT devices, robotics kits, STEM tools, and broadband connectivity, enabling practical workshops and innovation challenges focused on real-world problems.

More than 200 government teachers are receiving structured training to independently manage the labs, ensuring long-term impact. Government schoolteacher Kotanu Srinivas noted that AI tools accelerate learning, offering instant responses through text, video, or audio and helping students become more independent learners.

The customised curriculum aligns with NITI Aayog’s AI Connect platform, the CBSE AI Step Up module, AI4K12, and MIT App Inventor. Students will work with tools such as Google Teachable Machine, OpenAI, and robotics kits. Cyient founder B.V.R. Mohan Reddy highlighted AI’s growing role in societal transformation and said CyAILS can serve as a scalable model for inclusive innovation.
