Devaansh enters World Book of Records for fastest checkmate solving
IT and HRD Minister Nara Lokesh’s son Devaansh has entered the World Book of Records (WBR) for being the “Fastest Checkmate Solver (chess) – 175 puzzles.” He received the award at the WBR Awards 2025 ceremony at Westminster Hall, London, on Saturday.
A release said the 10-year-old solved 175 progressively difficult puzzles from Chess: 5334 Problems, Combinations and Games by Hungarian coach Laszlo Polgar at the Checkmate Marathon last year. He achieved the feat with guidance from his coach K. Rajashekar Reddy and support from his parents, Brahmani and Mr. Lokesh.
Mr. Lokesh described it as a proud moment, noting his son’s ability to stay calm under pressure and commit to the game at a young age.
Devaansh also holds two other world records in chess: completing the 7-disc Tower of Hanoi in 1 minute 43 seconds and arranging nine chess boards with all pieces in five minutes.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu congratulated his grandson on X, calling the achievement a result of “months of perseverance and the guidance of his mentors.”
