Devotees Throng Temples Across North Andhra on Ugadi

Thousands of devotees across North Andhra thronged temples in the early hours of Ugadi, marking the Telugu New Year with devotion, tradition, and hope.

Devotees arrived as early as 3 a.m. at major temples in Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, and Srikakulam districts. Many families reached before sunrise to offer special prayers. Long queues formed outside key shrines, including hilltop and coastal temples, while authorities managed the crowds and ensured smooth darshan.

Priests conducted special rituals and pujas from early morning. They performed Panchanga Sravanam and read out the new year’s almanac. Devotees listened closely to the forecasts and spiritual guidance. Many expressed hope for prosperity, good health, and success in the coming year.

The festive spirit remained visible across temple premises throughout the day. Decorations included mango leaves, rangolis, and traditional festoons. Devotees wore new clothes and carried fruits, coconuts, and flowers. They also brought Ugadi Pachadi, reflecting the different experiences of life.

Local authorities and police deployed additional personnel at major temples. They set up barricades and separate entry and exit points. Officials also arranged drinking water facilities for visitors. Volunteers and temple staff helped elderly devotees and maintained orderly movement.

Several temples organized annadanam, drawing large crowds of devotees and donors. Cultural and devotional programs took place in many towns. Bhajans and classical music performances added to the celebrations.

Officials reported a higher turnout compared to previous years and credited improved arrangements and favorable weather. Celebrations continued through the day, with families gathering for festive meals and community events across North Andhra, marking the occasion on a joyful and auspicious note.
