Dy CM Pawan Kalyan visits IGZP, adopts two giraffes

Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan visited the Indira Gandhi Zoological Park (IGZP) on Thursday and inspected several animal enclosures, reviewing the facilities and care provided to the animals. He interacted with zoo officials and sought details on maintenance, feeding practices, and steps taken to ensure animal welfare.

As part of his tour, he visited the Butterfly Park, where he appreciated the conservation measures and habitat development undertaken to protect various butterfly species. Officials explained the role of the park in environmental awareness and biodiversity conservation.

IGZP curator G. Mangamma briefed him on the zoo’s animal collection, veterinary care infrastructure, and zoo education programmes conducted for students and visitors. She highlighted the park’s rich flora and fauna and outlined upcoming projects aimed at enhancing visitor amenities and strengthening conservation efforts. Details of animal enrichment activities and developmental works within the zoo were also shared.

On the occasion of his mother Anjana Devi’s birthday, Mr. Pawan Kalyan adopted two giraffes for one year under the zoo’s animal adoption programme. He announced that he would bear the entire annual maintenance cost as a gesture of support for wildlife conservation.

Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (HoFF) Dr P.V. Chalapathi, Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife & HRD) Shanti Priya Pandey, Chief Conservator of Forests, Visakhapatnam, B. Mohamed Diwan Mydeen, and other forest and zoo officials were present during the visit.
