Extra Coach, Special Train Announced for Vizag–Kirandul Route

In view of heavy passenger demand on the Visakhapatnam–Kirandul route, the Waltair Division’s Divisional Railway Manager, Lalit Bohra, has directed officials to add extra coaches to the Kirandul Passenger train and to run a special service on high-demand days.

The DRM, along with ADRM (Operations) K. Rama Rao and senior officials, conducted a detailed inspection of Visakhapatnam railway station on Sunday. The review focused on station cleanliness, crowd management, and passenger amenities, especially in view of the seasonal rush. Sanitation on platforms and circulating areas was checked, passenger movement during peak hours was assessed, and the adequacy of facilities for commuters was reviewed.

During the inspection, the DRM visited the booking office, the foot-over bridge, the catering stalls, and the platforms. He interacted with on-duty staff to assess ground-level conditions and reviewed safety and security arrangements, including the functioning of CCTV cameras and monitoring systems. Officials were instructed to maintain constant vigilance and ensure a quick response to any passenger safety issues.

Reviewing passenger turnout on the Visakhapatnam–Kirandul section, the DRM directed officials to strengthen existing services. It was decided to augment Train No. 58501 Visakhapatnam–Kirandul Passenger with one additional General Second Class coach from December 29, 2025, to January 20, 2026. In the return direction, Train No. 58502 Kirandul–Visakhapatnam Passenger will be similarly augmented from December 30, 2025, to January 21, 2026.

In addition, a special train will be operated on December 29 to clear the extra rush. The service will run as per the notified timings and stoppages. Railway officials said these measures are aimed at ensuring smoother travel during the peak period.
