Govt clears 601 acres for Google data centre in Vizag

In a major push to Andhra Pradesh’s digital infrastructure plans, the State government has approved the allotment of 601.40 acres of land to Adani Infra (India) Limited, a notified partner of Raiden Infotech India Pvt. Ltd., for establishing a hyperscale AI data centre across Visakhapatnam and Anakapalli districts. The decision revises an earlier allotment of 480 acres.

According to G.O. MS No. 2, issued by N. Yuvaraj, Secretary (FAC), Information Technology, Electronics and Communications (ITE&C) Department, the revised allotment includes 266.60 acres at Tarluvada, 160 acres at Adavivaram and Mudasarlova, and 174.80 acres at Rambilli. The order modifies an earlier government directive.

The government order also specified that the Chief Secretary will chair the Executive Steering Committee, replacing the ITE&C Secretary.

Earlier, the State had sanctioned 480 acres — 200 acres at Tarluvada, 120 acres at Adavivaram and Mudasarlova, and 160 acres at Rambilli — at a 25% discount. It had also approved tailor-made incentives for the proposed data centre, planned with a capacity of around 1,000 MW and an estimated investment of nearly ₹87,520 crore.

Subsequently, Raiden Infotech India Pvt. Ltd. sought a revision of land requirements. The company requested 322 acres at Tarluvada, 160 acres at Mudasarlova, and 174.80 acres at Rambilli. It also proposed that all three parcels be allotted to Adani Infra (India) Limited, subject to survey and the transfer of possession through APIIC.

Last month, Adani Infra (India) Limited submitted detailed project reports (DPRs) for the three locations, covering a total of 601.40 acres.

The ITE&C Department placed these developments before the Council of Ministers, including the request for additional land, revised incentives, deemed distribution licences and related concessions. The Cabinet subsequently accorded approval.
