GVMC Commissioner reviews beach corridor ahead of Fleet Review

GVMC Commissioner Ketan Garg on Wednesday inspected RK Beach and the Beach Road corridor and directed officials to develop the stretch into a clean and vibrant coastal zone ahead of the International Fleet Review.

During the visit, Mr. Garg stressed the need for sustained sanitation measures and close monitoring. “We must ensure continuous waste removal and night-time supervision so that the area remains clean at all times,” he said.

He instructed officials to deploy mechanised beach-cleaning equipment regularly to keep the shoreline free of litter. He also called for high standards in maintaining the newly laid bitumen roads and asked officials to ensure that all streetlights and solar lighting systems function without interruption.

The Commissioner directed immediate repairs to damaged footpaths and fresh painting along the corridor. Clear road markings and well-maintained green medians were also listed as priorities. “The entire stretch should present a neat and organised appearance,” he noted.

Emphasising inter-departmental coordination, Mr. Garg instructed officials from the Engineering, Town Planning, Public Health, and Horticulture wings to work closely until the conclusion of the Fleet Review.

With several dignitaries expected to visit prominent locations such as the Visakha Museum, the civic body will take up special beautification works and related arrangements in the surrounding areas. “We want every visitor to carry a positive impression of the city,” the Commissioner said.

GVMC officials said the civic administration aims to showcase Visakhapatnam as a world-class coastal city during the international event.
