GVMC extends property tax waiver to April 30

GVMC extends property tax waiver to April 30

The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) has extended the deadline for availing a 50 per cent waiver on accumulated interest on property tax arrears to April 30, giving defaulters a second chance after the earlier March 31 cut-off was missed by many.

The Andhra Pradesh government, which had initially offered the interest waiver for lump-sum clearance of dues by March 31, extended the scheme following requests from taxpayers who could not meet the deadline. Additionally, the state government is offering a 5 per cent rebate on property tax and vacant land tax for the financial year 2026–27 to all those who pay on or before April 30.

GVMC Commissioner Ketan Garg urged property owners within GVMC limits to make the most of the twin benefits. “The government has provided this extended window as a goodwill gesture. Taxpayers who clear their arrears in a lump sum before April 30 will be entitled to a 50 per cent waiver on the accumulated interest. Additionally, a 5 per cent rebate on current year taxes is also available under Section 264(3) of the Andhra Pradesh Municipal Corporations Act, 1955,” he said.

The Commissioner appealed to all defaulters to utilise the opportunity without delay, clear their outstanding dues, and contribute to the city’s development.

Taxpayers can pay at GVMC Saukaryam Centres through cash, demand draft, cheque, or debit/credit cards. Payments can also be made online at gvmc.gov.in.
