GVMC Open Forum to Address Building, LRS, and TDR Issues
The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) will hold a special ‘Town Planning Open Forum’ on March 28 (Saturday). It will give citizens a direct platform to raise and resolve long-pending issues on building approvals and land regularisation.
The forum will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the GVMC Head Office Meeting Hall. It will bring together town planning officials, technical staff, and applicants awaiting clearances. As a result, participants can interact directly with decision-makers.
GVMC aims to speed up applications filed through the Development Permission Management System (DPMS). Many property owners, developers, and architects have raised concerns over delays. Therefore, officials will review cases on the spot and explain document gaps, procedures, and timelines.
In addition, the forum will address the regularisation of vacant plots under the Land Regularisation Scheme (LRS). Many applicants face issues due to layout discrepancies and ownership records. So, officials will guide them case by case and help clear bottlenecks.
Meanwhile, officials will also focus on the release of Transferable Development Rights (TDR). These rights compensate landowners in road and infrastructure projects. However, delays in issuing TDR certificates have affected several beneficiaries. Hence, the forum will help speed up these cases through direct interaction.
GVMC Chief City Planner A. Prabhakar Rao has urged citizens, property owners, and stakeholders to attend the forum. He asked them to bring relevant documents and application details. He added that this initiative will improve transparency, accountability, and efficiency.
Overall, GVMC wants to adopt a more citizen-focused approach. It aims to reduce reliance on intermediaries and resolve issues faster. By enabling face-to-face interaction, officials expect to build trust and deliver quicker solutions.
Therefore, citizens with pending DPMS, LRS, or TDR issues should attend and use the platform for faster resolution.
