GVMC Wins Three PRSI National Awards for 2025
The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) received three PRSI National Awards for 2025 at the 47th All India Public Relations Conference held in Dehradun from December 13 to 15.
Commissioner Ketan Garg said the awards recognise GVMC’s continued focus on public welfare. He added that the success reflects teamwork between citizens, elected representatives, and council members.
The three-day conference was themed “Empowering Growth, Preserving Roots: The PR Vision for 2047.” It was inaugurated on December 13 by Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. The awards were presented on December 14 by Uttarakhand Assembly Speaker Ritu Khanduri Bhushan, former Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’, and PRSI National President Ajit Pathak.
GVMC won first prize for Best CSR Project for Child Care. The award was given for programmes that improve children’s health, education, safety, nutrition, and overall well-being.
The corporation also secured first prize for Best Use of Social Media in a Corporate Campaign. The award recognised its effective communication on civic services, governance initiatives, and public awareness campaigns.
In addition, GVMC received second prize in the Women’s Empowerment and Community Development category. The initiatives focused on social and economic development, self-employment, and capacity building.
Additional Commissioner D.V. Ramana Murthy and Public Relations Officer N. Nageswara Rao received the awards on behalf of GVMC.
The awards highlight GVMC’s wide outreach efforts. These include child welfare programmes, women empowerment initiatives and a strong social media presence. The corporation said it will continue using these platforms to make Visakhapatnam cleaner, greener and more inclusive.
