Holi Celebrated Across Visakhapatnam
Holi was celebrated across Visakhapatnam on Wednesday, with people from different sections of society taking part in the festival of colours. As in previous years, the Beach Road stretch emerged as the main centre of activity, attracting large crowds from the morning.
The coastal stretch from Naval Coastal Battery to Rushikonda saw widespread celebrations. People applied colours to one another and danced to music played at various points along the road. Many later moved towards the sea to spend time on the shore. Families gathered to celebrate together, taking photographs and enjoying the occasion despite the heat.
Places such as RK Beach, the Submarine Museum premises, Coconut Trees Arena, and the YMCA area reported heavy footfall throughout the day. Children and youth played along the beach, while vendors sold pichkaris, colours, and other festival-related items.
Private events organised at venues along Beach Road and in other parts of the city also drew participants. Resident Welfare Associations and community groups conducted Holi gatherings within their localities, focusing on orderly celebrations.
The city police deployed personnel at key junctions and along the beach stretch to monitor traffic, prevent drunk driving, and avoid any untoward incidents. The celebrations concluded without major disruptions.
