The Indian Institute of Petroleum and Energy (IIPE) has emerged as a key driver of India’s energy transition, said Prof. Shalivahan, Director of IIPE. He highlighted the institute’s role in shaping the future of the country’s energy sector through advanced research, skilled graduates, and strategic collaborations.

Speaking at the HR Conclave on Future-Ready Workforce: Bridging Talent, Technology and Industry Expectations in Energy, Prof. Shalivahan said IIPE’s impact goes beyond education. “The institute actively develops knowledge systems, supports policy initiatives, and builds innovation pipelines that drive sustainable and technologically advanced energy solutions,” he added.

The conclave brought together industry leaders, changemakers, and emerging professionals to discuss India’s energy transition and the evolving role of academic institutions. Prof. P.K. Banik, President of IIPE’s Board of Governors, emphasized India’s target of achieving net-zero emissions by 2070 and underlined IIPE’s advisory role to the Government in converting this vision into practical strategies.

A key takeaway was that student readiness must focus on deployability, not just employability. Experts stressed that students should be equipped to solve real-world challenges rather than rely solely on examinations. Strong fundamentals were highlighted as essential for professional confidence and interview preparedness.

K.S. Shetty, Director HR at HPCL, noted the energy sector’s rapid transformation driven by AI, automation, and digital systems. He urged students to lead these changes and emphasized resilience—the ability to adapt, recover, and thrive in uncertainty—as a critical skill. Dr. Natwar Kadel, Head of People Strategy HR at Hyundai Motor, said the future belongs to those who can learn, relearn, and unlearn quickly.

The conclave featured panels on Right Skills for Core Engineering, Shift to Clean Energy, and What’s Next in Data Science, Consulting, and Analytics. Senior HR leaders from companies including Reliance, Tata Steel, BPCL, Volvo, Google, Philips, and Standard Chartered shared insights on adaptability, sustainability, and the practical use of AI and analytics in reshaping industries.

Concluding the event, speakers reaffirmed that IIPE is not just participating in India’s energy transition—it is leading it. Students were urged to remain ethical, curious, resilient, and committed to serving with purpose.
