Infosys moves closer to permanent Vizag campus

Visakhapatnam is set to receive a major push to its IT sector, with Infosys close to establishing a permanent campus in the city. Discussions between the State government and the IT major are in the final stages, and the Yendada hills near Madhurawada have emerged as the preferred location.

According to sources, talks are focused on land allotment, pricing, and the infrastructure support requested by Infosys. The government is considering allotting about 20 acres at Yendada at a nominal cost, in line with concessions previously offered to IT companies such as TCS and Cognizant. A recent site visit by an Infosys team covered locations at Yendada and Paradesipalem, with Yendada clearly favoured due to its surroundings and accessibility.

At present, Infosys operates from a rented facility in the Rushikonda IT zone, which was inaugurated in October 2023. The company is now looking to set up a permanent campus in Visakhapatnam. Officials said the proposed move would further strengthen the city’s IT ecosystem, create employment opportunities, and drive residential and infrastructure development in and around Yendada.

A formal announcement is expected by the end of January. Officials also noted that other IT majors, including TCS, Cognizant, and Accenture, are exploring expansion plans in Visakhapatnam, encouraged by the State government’s incentive framework.
