INHS Kalyani unveils Bionic Arm, spotlights trauma care innovation

INHS Kalyani, the Eastern Naval Command’s premier hospital, inaugurated the Continued Medical Education (CME) 2025 program today, focusing on a “Paradigm Shift in Management of Acute Surgical Emergencies.”

Vice Admiral Rajesh Pendharkar, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command, was the Chief Guest, with Surgeon Vice Admiral Kavita Sahai, Director General Medical Services (Navy), as Guest of Honour. The ceremony featured the release of a commemorative souvenir celebrating medical innovation, and a highlight was the presentation of a Bionic Arm to a polytrauma patient, showcasing a landmark in rehabilitation and interdisciplinary collaboration.

The two-day program includes panel discussions, quizzes, and hands-on trauma workshops led by senior officers of the Armed Forces Medical Services and healthcare experts. Prof. M. Srinivas, Director of AIIMS Delhi, delivered the keynote address, sharing insights on advancing trauma care in India.

The CME brought together dignitaries from all three services, medical officers, and healthcare professionals, reflecting the Navy’s dedication to clinical excellence and cutting-edge patient care.
