Inorbit Mall Set for Public Opening in Vizag
In a major boost to the city’s retail and lifestyle infrastructure, Inorbit Mall was inaugurated at Salagramapuram on Monday. The mall is set to open to the public on Friday.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) Chairman M. Angamuthu, K. Raheja Corp President Neel C. Raheja, Inorbit Malls CEO Rajneesh Mahajan, and Visakhapatnam North MLA P. Vishnu Kumar Raju. Union Ports Minister Sarbananda Sonowal participated virtually.
Speaking on the occasion, Sonowal said the VPA has achieved a key milestone in the commercial utilisation of its land assets. He underlined the Centre’s commitment to unlocking the economic potential of land owned by major ports.
He noted that the VPA has attracted investments exceeding ₹39,000 crore through various MoUs. This includes a ₹29,662-crore project for the proposed Dugarajapatnam Port and Shipbuilding Cluster. He added that infrastructure projects worth ₹1,390 crore are currently underway, focusing on berth modernisation, railway electrification, and multimodal connectivity to strengthen Visakhapatnam’s position as a logistics hub.
Angamuthu said the mall, spread over 1.4 million square feet, is being developed through a partnership between the VPA and K. Raheja Corp, with an investment of ₹600 crore in the first phase. The project has generated employment for around 3,000 people directly and 10,000 indirectly.
He added that 16.3 acres of land were allotted for the project under the public-private partnership (PPP) model, aimed at enhancing urban infrastructure and living standards. While the first phase has been completed, the second phase is planned. The mall is exclusively designed for retail and entertainment, with no office space.
He also said the VPA is working on plans to redevelop its hospital and stadium.
Neel Raheja said the mall, among the largest in the State, was completed in a record time of 31 months. Mahajan said an additional ₹300 crore has been earmarked for the second phase, which is expected to be completed within a year.
The mall features a G+4 structure with seven levels of parking and will house around 350 national and international brands. It will also include an eight-screen AAA (Asian Allu Arjun) Cinemas multiplex and five family entertainment centres.
In addition to retail offerings, the mall includes lifestyle features such as a 1.1-km jogging track, a pet park, and a terrace deck.
