IT master plan for Visakhapatnam Economic Region in 60 days

Andhra Pradesh IT Secretary Katamneni Bhaskar has instructed officials to prepare a special master plan for IT parks in the Visakhapatnam Economic Region (VER).

He chaired a meeting on Thursday at the Visakhapatnam Collectorate with officials from various departments and representatives from the Nippon Koei Consultancy Agency. During the meeting, he reviewed the growth prospects of the IT sector in the region.

Bhaskar stated that the government aims to attract investments for IT parks, data centers, and Global Capability Centres (GCCs). He encouraged officials not only to expand existing IT clusters but also to identify potential sites for new IT hubs in the area.

He emphasized the importance of improving infrastructure to draw in IT companies. For example, enhanced road connectivity, commercial spaces, entertainment facilities, and social infrastructure will support these investments.

Furthermore, Bhaskar directed officials from VMRDA, GVMC, and Nippon Koei Consultancy Agency to collaborate and prepare a practical report. He mentioned that these projects will create substantial employment opportunities in the region.

He also urged all departments to work closely together, with the goal of completing the special master plan for IT sector development within 60 days.

Participants in the meeting included Joint Collector Gobbilla Vidhyadhari, VMRDA Commissioner Tej Bharat, Bheemili RDO Sangeet Madhur, APIIC Zonal Manager Simhachalam, Industries Department GM Adiseshu, and GVMC ADC Varma. Officials from other departments also attended, while Joint Collectors from the VER districts joined virtually.
