Jagan Mohan Reddy Receives Grand Welcome in Vizag, Araku

Former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy was accorded a grand welcome in Visakhapatnam and Alluri Sitharama Raju districts on Wednesday, with party leaders, supporters, and well-wishers gathering in large numbers to greet him. The visit highlighted the strong presence of the YSR Congress Party in the region and the widespread support for its leader.

Mr. Jagan landed at Visakhapatnam airport in the morning and proceeded to Araku Valley by helicopter to attend the wedding reception of the son of YSRCP MLA Regam Matsyalingam. On arrival in Araku, he was warmly received by Araku MP M. Thanuja Rani, along with several district-level YSRCP leaders. Hundreds of party cadres and local residents lined the route to the venue, waving flags and cheering slogans in his support, reflecting the excitement surrounding the visit.

During the function, Mr. Jagan interacted with attendees and extended his blessings to the newlywed couple. His presence at the wedding reception was seen as a mark of solidarity and personal support for party members. After the event, he returned to Visakhapatnam in the afternoon and visited the residence of former MLA Vasupalli Ganesh Kumar to bless his son, who was recently married. Again, supporters gathered along the roads leading to the residence and the airport, raising slogans of “Jai Jagan” and demonstrating their loyalty.

Key party figures, including Visakhapatnam YSRCP district president K.K. Raju, corporators, and other senior leaders, accompanied him throughout the visit. The police maintained tight security, with Additional DCP (Traffic) K. Praveen Kumar and senior officers monitoring the convoy to prevent any major disruption. Despite careful planning, minor traffic congestion occurred at the NAD flyover underpass when a concrete mixer lorry got stuck, causing temporary delays.

The visit underscored Mr. Jagan’s strong connect with grassroots supporters and his active engagement with party members and local communities across the districts. It also highlighted the logistical and security efforts involved in managing high-profile political visits in the city.
