Joint Collector Orders Tight Vigilance for Intermediate Exams
Joint Collector Gobbilla Vidhyadhari has instructed officials to ensure foolproof arrangements for the Intermediate theory examinations scheduled from February 23 to March 24. She emphasised vigilance and urged departments to prevent lapses.
During a preparedness review meeting on Friday, Ms. Vidhyadhari directed officials to enforce stringent security at all examination centres. She also asked authorities to impose prohibitory orders under Section 144 wherever required. In addition, she said every centre must appoint a Chief Superintendent and deploy a sitting squad.
She instructed departments to provide key facilities at each venue. These include medical camps, safe drinking water, uninterrupted power supply, and high-speed internet. Meanwhile, APSRTC officials were asked to run additional bus services to help candidates travel smoothly. She also stressed the need for sanitation and cleanliness at all centres.
Furthermore, the Joint Collector told the Education Department and other authorities to carry out advance inspections. The teams will verify infrastructure and essential amenities.
Over 81,000 Candidates to Appear
Regional Inspection Officer Muralidharan informed the meeting that 81,001 candidates will take the examinations starting February 23. The district has set up 85 centres for the theory papers.
Of the total, 40,165 are first-year students, while 40,836 are second-year students. Earlier, officials conducted practical examinations for vocational streams from January 27 to February 10. Similarly, they held practicals for general streams between February 1 and 10. He noted that both were completed smoothly.
The theory examinations will run from February 23 to March 24. Authorities will conduct papers for first- and second-year students on alternate days. The exams will take place from 9 a.m. to 12 noon.
Previously, students appeared for the Ethics and Human Values paper on January 21. Subsequently, they wrote the Environmental Education examination on January 23.
Officials from the Education, Medical and Health, Transport, Electricity, Police, Revenue, and Postal departments attended the meeting.
