KKR sign Muzarabani for IPL 2026
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have signed Zimbabwe fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani for the upcoming TATA IPL 2026 season after the pacer withdrew from his contract with Islamabad United in the Pakistan Super League.
The 6 ft 8 in right-arm quick has established himself as one of Zimbabwe’s leading bowlers in the shortest format. Known for extracting steep bounce from good lengths and striking during key phases of an innings, Muzarabani adds a different dimension to KKR’s pace attack.
The 28-year-old brings considerable T20 experience, having claimed more than 90 wickets in over 80 T20 Internationals at an average of around 21, with best figures of 3 for 8. His ability to maintain pace and accuracy across conditions has also seen him feature in several franchise leagues around the world.
A member of KKR’s support staff said the management believes the Zimbabwean pacer’s height and skill set will be an asset in Indian conditions. “Muzarabani offers a unique advantage because of his height and the bounce he can generate even on relatively slow surfaces. He has developed well in the last few years and understands how to bowl in different phases of a T20 innings,” the official said.
Former India fast bowler and commentator Irfan Pathan felt the signing could strengthen KKR’s bowling unit. “Tall fast bowlers who can hit the deck hard are always valuable in T20 cricket. Muzarabani has improved his control and his ability to bowl hard lengths. If he adapts quickly to the IPL environment, he can become a very useful option for KKR,” Pathan said.
Cricket analyst Aakash Chopra noted that Muzarabani’s experience in international cricket would help him handle pressure situations. “He has already played a lot of T20 cricket for Zimbabwe and in leagues abroad. That experience will help him deal with high-pressure overs, especially in the powerplay and middle overs,” Chopra said.
With the addition of Muzarabani, KKR will look to bolster its pace resources as it prepares for the new IPL season.
