Lokesh unveils AU revival roadmap for centenary
Minister for Education and IT Nara Lokesh on Saturday announced a clear roadmap to revive the legacy of Andhra University and position it as a global Centre of Excellence before its centenary year.
He chaired a review meeting with university officials and local MLAs during his visit to Visakhapatnam and Anakapalli. Lokesh said the centenary should drive real academic reform and raise institutional standards. He urged officials to use the milestone to reset goals and strengthen research, teaching and global partnerships.
The Minister directed the authorities to organise month-long centenary celebrations from March 26 to April 26. The events will end with a grand foundation day programme on April 26. He asked the team to highlight AU’s history, achievements and future plans through these events.
Lokesh also stressed the need for strong public outreach. He asked officials to expand media coverage and engage alumni, students and the wider North Andhra community. He said public participation would give the celebrations wider meaning and reach.
Vice-Chancellor G.P. Rajasekhar briefed the Minister on development works, academic plans and the foundation day schedule. He outlined proposals for campus upgrades, seminars, cultural programmes and alumni meets.
Local representatives called for high visibility campaigns so every stakeholder feels connected to the centenary. The Minister assured full government support and told departments to coordinate closely with the university to complete all works on time.
