Mauritius President offers prayers at Tirumala temple

The President of the Republic of Mauritius, Dharambeer Gokhool, offered prayers at the hill shrine of Lord Venkateswara in Tirumala on Wednesday.

The visiting dignitary was accorded a traditional reception at the temple entrance by Endowments Minister Anam Ramnarayan Reddy, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams Chairman B R Naidu, and Executive Officer Anil Kumar Singhal. He was later escorted into the sanctum sanctorum, where he stood for about ten minutes and paid obeisance to the presiding deity.

In keeping with long-standing temple customs, President Gokhool first offered prayers at the Lord Bhu Varahaswamy temple before proceeding to the main shrine.

The visit highlighted the close spiritual and cultural links between India and Mauritius, rooted in shared civilisational and religious traditions.

At the Sri Ranganayakula Mandapam inside the temple, scholars rendered Veda Ashirvachanam, invoking divine blessings for the President and his delegation. On behalf of the TTD, EO Anil Kumar Singhal honoured him with Shesha Vastram and presented sacred theertha prasadam, a portrait of the deity, a temple calendar, and traditional panchagavya products.

Later, the President visited the TTD-run SV Veda Patasala at Dharmagiri, about four kilometres from the hill temple.

Additional EO Ch Venkaiah Chowdary, Collector S Venkateswarlu, CVSO Muralikrishna, SP Subbarayudu, and other officials were present.
