Mayor Peela Srinivasa Rao urges citizens to dedicate one hour daily to cleanliness

Mayor Peela Srinivasa Rao urged citizens to take responsibility for cleanliness. He asked everyone to spend at least one hour each day keeping their surroundings clean.

He spoke at the Ek Din, Ek Saath, Ek Ghanta programme at Appu Ghar in Zone 3, Ward 18, on Thursday. The event took place under Swachhata Hi Seva 2025. The national campaign runs from September 17 to October 2 as directed by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.

The Mayor said clean surroundings lead to better health. Therefore, he appealed to Resident Welfare Associations, youth, and NGOs to create awareness on hygiene. In addition, he asked households to segregate waste and hand it over to CLAP vehicles.

He also advised citizens to take precautions against seasonal diseases. Moreover, he instructed officials to monitor sanitation activities. He directed them to ensure cleaning at the beach area opposite the Ropeway.

Meanwhile, Ward Corporator Golagani Mangaveni said Ward 18 residents were joining cleanliness drives. She added that the effort supports the State Government’s call for public participation.

Furthermore, GVMC Additional Commissioner D.V. Ramanamurthy asked people to set aside one hour daily for cleaning. He also stressed the need for proper waste segregation. Likewise, Chief Medical Officer E.N.V. Naresh Kumar reminded residents that sanitation workers cannot maintain cleanliness alone. He urged citizens to use dustbins or hand waste to sanitation staff.

Finally, Sanitary Inspector Satyanarayana, sanitary secretaries, and other GVMC officials joined the programme.
