MedTech Hackathon-2026 begins at AMTZ, draws 300 participants

The Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone launched the MedTech Hackathon-2026, themed “Hack Health: Innovate to Heal”, on Saturday. The event brings together start-ups, clinicians, researchers, and industry leaders to tackle key healthcare challenges.

Dr Jitendra Sharma, Managing Director and Founder-CEO of AMTZ, said over 300 participants and 150 start-up teams from across India have joined the hackathon. He noted that the event reflects rising interest in India’s MedTech innovation space.

He said the platform helps teams turn ideas into working prototypes. These include digital health tools, AI-based diagnostics, and advanced medical devices. AMTZ offers infrastructure, regulatory support, and industry partnerships to help teams validate and refine their concepts.

Participants will work intensively over four days. They will focus on designing and building practical solutions. The goal is to create scalable and cost-effective products for real-world healthcare needs. Key areas include affordable diagnostics, remote monitoring, and emergency care.

Dr Suseela Branham K, CEO of BioValley Incubation Council, said specialised incubators support teams with pre-clinical testing and scaling. She added that these facilities help speed up the journey from lab to market.

Dilip Kumar Chekuri, CEO of MediValley Incubation Council, said the ecosystem supports medical electronics start-ups at every stage. Teams receive guidance from design and pre-compliance testing to production and final calibration. This ensures their products meet quality and regulatory standards.

Organisers have also arranged mentoring sessions, workshops, and investor interactions. These sessions give participants industry exposure and funding opportunities.

A multidisciplinary jury will evaluate the entries. It includes experts from robotics, cardiology, dentistry, industrial design, and medical software, along with MedTech investors. Winning teams will receive incubation support to take their innovations forward.
