Mobile Skill Lab Begins Laparoscopic Training at AMC and KGH

The Johnson & Johnson Institute on Wheels introduced its Skill Lab Training Program at Andhra Medical College and King George Hospital on Thursday. The program runs from November 10 to December 11 in government hospitals across Andhra Pradesh and helps young surgeons build stronger laparoscopic skills. The Visakhapatnam sessions will take place over three days.

AMC Principal Dr. K. V. S. M. Sandhya Devi and KGH Superintendent Dr. I. Vani inaugurated the program. Faculty members said the sessions offer postgraduate students and junior surgeons hands-on training in essential laparoscopic procedures using the Line Tissue and Stimulators–Tübingen Model. The modules include Lap Fundoplication, Laparoscopic Anastrozole, Laparoscopic Sclerectomy, Laparoscopic Hysterectomy, and Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy.

The mobile skill lab is equipped to train participants in general surgery, gynecology, urology, pediatrics, and oncology. It will visit several super specialty hospitals under the Directorate of Medical Education in Vijayawada. Nearly 1,300 postgraduate students and doctors are expected to be trained over 22 days. The next phase will begin at Rangaraya Medical College on November 24.

Dr. Sandhya Devi and Dr. I. Vani thanked Johnson & Johnson for supporting the initiative and helping expand access to structured surgical training across the state.
