MSTC Donates Rs 31 Lakh Optical Biometry to Sankar Foundation

Metals State Trading Corporation (MSTC) Limited, a Mini Ratna Category-I PSU under the Union Ministry of Steel, has donated an advanced optical biometry system valued at Rs 31 lakh to Sankar Foundation as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program.

The equipment was inaugurated at the foundation’s main hospital on Saturday by V. Ganesh Moorthy, Branch Manager (Andhra Pradesh), in the presence of Managing Trustee A. Krishna Kumar and officials from MSTC and Sankar Foundation.

Speaking on the occasion, Ganesh Moorthy said the initiative reflects MSTC’s commitment to supporting healthcare institutions that deliver measurable social impact. He commended Sankar Foundation for its sustained efforts to combat avoidable blindness and provide accessible eye care services, particularly to underprivileged communities.

Hospital authorities said the optical biometry system would enhance the precision of pre-operative measurements for cataract and refractive surgeries. The technology enables accurate calculation of intraocular lens power, thereby improving surgical outcomes and reducing post-operative complications.

Expressing gratitude, Krishna Kumar said MSTC’s support would strengthen the hospital’s diagnostic infrastructure and benefit thousands of patients who rely on the foundation for affordable treatment. He noted that investments in modern equipment play a critical role in expanding the scope and quality of eye care.

Doctors and staff members highlighted that the addition of the new system would help streamline workflow, shorten patient evaluation time, and improve overall efficiency in surgical planning.
