Murmu underscores partnership-driven maritime vision at IFR

President Droupadi Murmu said India’s global engagement, including the maritime domain, is rooted in Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam. She added that security, sustainability, and growth rely on strong partnerships.

As Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Murmu reviewed Indian naval ships and vessels from friendly nations off the Visakhapatnam coast on Wednesday. The ships formed six ceremonial columns.

Speaking aboard the Presidential Yacht INS Sumedha, she congratulated the participating navies. She also recalled India’s centuries-old maritime ties with Southeast Asia. According to her, trade and cultural exchanges shaped these enduring links.

Furthermore, Murmu said a stable maritime order rests on collective responsibility. She emphasised cooperation among like-minded partners. In addition, she praised the Indian Navy’s vigilance in safeguarding national interests. She noted its role in maintaining regional stability.

Murmu cited the historic Bali Jatra links between Odisha and Bali. She described them as symbols of long-standing connections.

Meanwhile, highlighting the Navy’s humanitarian role, she said it remains a first responder during disasters. It delivers swift assistance with compassion. Moreover, she said IFR participation shows how seas unite nations.

India’s capabilities at sea, underwater, and in the air drew attention. Notably, INS Vikrant, the indigenously built aircraft carrier, featured prominently. Ships from partner nations joined the display. A French Navy Atlantic aircraft also took part.

The aerial segment included MiG-29K manoeuvres. Additionally, Chetak helicopters carried the Indian National Flag and Naval Ensign. A P-8I aircraft released flares.

Earlier, the President inspected a Guard of Honour at the Naval Dockyard Jetty. Those aboard the yacht included Andhra Pradesh Governor S. Abdul Nazeer, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi, Eastern Naval Command chief Vice-Admiral Sanjay Bhalla, and Union Minister K. Rammohan Naidu.
