Muttimbaku Abhishikth Kishore assumes charge as Visakhapatnam Collector
Muttimbaku Abhishikth Kishore, a 2015-batch IAS officer, took charge as the District Collector of Visakhapatnam on Wednesday. Speaking to the media after assuming office, Mr. Kishore pledged to prioritise the development of the district and the welfare of its residents.
He said he would ensure that government schemes reached the intended beneficiaries and that the benefits of development were accessible to all. Highlighting the city’s emergence as a key economic, industrial, and IT hub, he said he would work to attract further investments in sectors such as IT, industries, data centres, and tourism.
Mr. Kishore added that he would focus on infrastructure development, creating employment opportunities, and promoting balanced growth in both urban and rural areas. He stated that he would visit every part of the district to frame development plans tailored to local needs.
He pointed to ongoing projects, including the upcoming Bhogapuram Airport, port-based development initiatives, and industrial expansion, as opportunities that would guide Visakhapatnam’s future growth. The Collector also emphasised the need for transparent and efficient administration while working in coordination with the district machinery.
Speaking about his background, Mr. Kishore said he hailed from Nellore, Andhra Pradesh, and that both his parents were government employees. He has served in several capacities, including Sub-Collector in East Godavari and Prakasam districts, ITDA Project Officer, Municipal Commissioner, Joint Collector, and Collector of Annamayya district, and has experience in Finance, Commercial Taxes, and Industries departments.
Expressing his happiness at taking charge in Visakhapatnam, he thanked the Chief Minister and the government and called on the public to cooperate in advancing the district’s development.
