Nara Lokesh Announces Annual Teacher Recruitment, Focuses on Educational Reforms
Andhra Pradesh HRD Minister Nara Lokesh announced on Friday that teacher recruitment through the District Selection Committee (DSC) will be held annually to address teacher shortages and ensure a steady flow of qualified educators. This follows the successful completion of the state’s first Mega DSC, which filled 16,347 teacher positions.
Lokesh highlighted reforms implemented in the past 14 months, aimed at improving learning outcomes, and urged teachers and officials to take responsibility in achieving educational goals. He also focused on the state’s position in the Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) programme, directing officials to implement measures to improve its ranking and ensure FLN as a right for every child, including those in remote areas.
Further, the Minister confirmed the release of Rs 325 crore under the Thalliki Vandanam scheme and directed the release of 2024–25 fee reimbursement funds to ease financial burdens on students.
In terms of infrastructure, the state plans to establish Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas and Kendriya Vidyalayas with donor support, along with constructing Science Centres and 125 Autism Centres. A world-class Central Library will be built in Amaravati, with a Regional Library in Visakhapatnam.
Lokesh also emphasized modernizing public libraries with a common digital platform and the use of facial recognition systems. These initiatives reflect the state’s commitment to enhancing education through better recruitment, infrastructure, and technology integration.
