No LPG shortage in AP, stocks sufficient for 15 days, says Naidu
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday said there is no shortage of LPG in Andhra Pradesh, adding that the State has adequate reserves to meet demand for the next 15 days.
According to officials, around 14,000 metric tonnes of LPG are currently in stock, while another 24,000 metric tonnes are available at storage facilities in Visakhapatnam. Additional supplies are expected shortly.
Naidu reviewed the gas supply situation at a high-level meeting held at the Real Time Governance Society, which was attended by Chief Secretary G. Sai Prasad, senior officials, and representatives of petroleum companies, including GAIL and ONGC.
Emphasising the need for uninterrupted supply, the Chief Minister directed officials to ensure that essential services such as hospitals, hostels, and temples do not face disruption. He also asked them to be prepared with alternative arrangements that can be made available to the public if required.
He further called for strict monitoring of LPG distribution through e-KYC and OTP-based systems to prevent diversion of cylinders and avoid panic. As a supplementary measure, he suggested increasing the availability of induction stoves across the State.
Naidu also urged petroleum companies to step up production and streamline distribution. He stressed the need to expand the City Gas Distribution network and highlighted the importance of supplying natural gas from the KG Basin to households through piped connections.
The review focused on both immediate supply management and long-term measures, including promoting the use of CNG and PNG, to strengthen the State’s energy security.
