NTPC Simhadri Eye Camp Benefits 485 Villagers
As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, NTPC Simhadri organised a Mega Comprehensive Eye Screening Camp at Vadacheepurupalli Gram Panchayat on February 25, delivering critical eye care services to residents from nearby villages.
The camp, conducted in association with Sankar Foundation Eye Hospital, benefited more than 485 villagers. Though originally intended for Vadacheepurupalli and habitations within a 5 km radius, the programme witnessed strong participation from neighbouring areas, including Naidiupalem and Mutyalammapalem, reflecting the need for accessible specialist healthcare in rural communities.
Medical teams carried out detailed examinations to identify vision problems and eye diseases. Organisers reported that 350 beneficiaries were provided free spectacles, while 246 individuals received essential medicines for various eye-related conditions.
During the screenings, doctors identified 39 patients requiring cataract and other specialised surgeries. The procedures will be performed at Sankar Foundation Eye Hospital, with each patient receiving two complimentary doorstep follow-up visits post-surgery to support recovery and monitor outcomes.
Officials said the initiative highlights NTPC Simhadri’s continued commitment to improving healthcare access in villages surrounding its operations. They emphasised that early detection and timely treatment of eye ailments can prevent avoidable vision loss and significantly enhance quality of life.
Residents expressed appreciation for the camp, noting that it brought expert consultation and treatment closer to their doorstep, saving both time and travel costs.
