Officials on Alert as Cyclone Montha Approaches Andhra Pradesh

District Collector M.N. Harendhira Prasad has ordered officials to stay at their headquarters and cancelled all leaves as Cyclone Montha approaches. Heavy rain is expected over the next four days. Relief centres are being established, and residents in low-lying areas and on hills are being relocated to safety.

Fishermen are barred from venturing into the sea. Those already at sea must be brought back. Authorities are ensuring a stable drinking water supply, standby generators, sufficient diesel, and adequate medical staff at Primary Health Centres. Disaster Response Forces remain on standby.

ASR District Collector A.S. Dinesh Kumar has asked officials to monitor rainfall across all mandals and focus on Agency areas. Vulnerable groups, including pregnant women, children, and the elderly, must be protected. Roads, transport routes, thatched houses, anganwadi centres, and schools will be safeguarded and restored if damaged.

In Anakapalli, District Collector Vijaya Krishnan cancelled all leaves for medical staff. High-risk pregnant women are being moved to hospitals. Reservoirs and canals are under continuous monitoring, and police will restrict movement across overflowing streams and culverts.
